The making of 7/8 cellos.

"In recent times I have been intensively engaged in the making of 7/8 cellos. My ambition is to make soloistic 7/8 cellos which can be considered as a real alternative to 4/4 cellos."

"Therefore I chose the Mastercello „Saveuse“, made in 1726 by Antonio Stradivari, as my model. Its original measurements are identical to the usual 7/8 measurements. Despite its smaller dimensions, this model sounds rich, deep and soloistic and provides a fascinating insight into the mind of Stradivari the innovator."
